About Angelo

Angelo Seminara is one of the most captivating and original hairstylists of our time

Every now and again someone comes along who changes the agenda. Angelo has such a passion and a commitment to his work, hairdressing is not his job – it’s his life.’ Trevor Sorbie MBE

Four times winner of the BHA British Hairdresser of the Year Award (2007, 2010, 2012 and 2016) and five times winner of the Grand Trophy AIPP Award (2012, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020), his work is hugely influential and is avidly followed by hair professionals, photographers, stylists and models the world over. Angelo quickly gained a great reputation in the fashion arena. Paris, New York, London and Milan fashion weeks soon featured on his itinerary, working on runway looks for Chanel, Valentino, Hermes, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood… the list rolls on.

Admired for his imagination, skill and creative drive, Seminara’s work defies categorization. His approach is that of an artist, designer or inventor, imaginatively translating observations of the world into stunningly original shapes and colours. An avid photographer and collector of art and design books, Seminara brings a range of influences to bear on his work, and is constantly pushing the boundaries.

Alongside a remarkable celebrity client-list, Seminara was the Artistic Director for the innovative Italian brand Davines Spa, for 8 consecutive years. After taking up the position in 2011, Seminara began ground-breaking research into new hair colouring techniques and invented a new innovative colour instrument, Flamboyage, in 2012. After 3 years research and constant attempts and re-formulations, Davines and Angelo’s creative union led to the launch of a new range of hair products, ‘Your Hair Assistant’ in 2016, to critical acclaim.

Seminara’s work is increasingly seen in the sphere of culture and arts. Since 2010, Seminara has worked closely with the fashion curator, Judith Clark, to create beautiful and distinctive hair installations that have featured in exhibitions including the Chloe Attitudes at the Palais de Tokyo, the Diana Vreeland retrospective at the Museo Fortuny in Venice, the Simone Handbag Museum in Seoul, the Dresses of Frida Kahlo, in Mexico, the Louis Vuitton’s La Galerie in Asnieres, and The Vulgar: Fashion Redefined at the Barbican in London.

Seminara’s rapid rise to fame is built on a lifelong passion for hair. He began his career as apprentice to a barber at the age of 11 in his hometown in the south of Italy and went on to work for Toni & Guy in Rome. In 1995, Seminara moved to London where he soon became the protégé of Trevor Sorbie, eventually taking on the prestigious role of International Creative Director for Trevor Sorbie PLC.

In 2020 Angelo became Goldwell Global ambassador, where he pushed the boundaries in creativity. Since the beginning of his career, he has been passionate about sharing his knowledge and his ideas and has been teaching and inspiring hairdressers around the world.

Angelo’s agent, Streeters, ensures he is regularly commissioned for editorial work by many of the world’s leading fashion and style magazines including Harpers Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Italian Vogue, French Vogue, The Sunday Times, Mixte and Dazed.
